Welcome to Joy Cafe (喜樂園茶室), a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Morsjaya, Miri, Sarawak. If you're a food lover seeking an authentic Malaysian café experience, Joy Cafe promises not just a meal, but a nostalgic journey back to the culinary roots of the 80s.

As you step through its doors, you’re immediately enveloped by the warm, mouthwatering aroma of air-fried pork lard, evoking memories of traditional coffee shops from years gone by. The atmosphere is a delightful blend of casual dining with a homely touch, where the sound of sizzling noodles mingles with laughter and the occasional spirited banter echoing from the kitchen—a testament to the vibrant Foochow family that operates this quaint establishment.

Joy Cafe specializes in a range of classic dishes that reflect the rich culinary heritage of the region. Among its must-try items, the Kolo Mee steals the spotlight, featuring perfectly cooked noodles tossed in a savory sauce, accompanied by succulent pieces of marinated pork. Customers rave about the 'memory on a plate' this dish brings—it's not just a meal; it's a connection to one’s roots, as noted by Heng Luan Ting in his enthusiastic review.

For those with a penchant for soups, the Pork Liver Soup is another sensational offering that has garnered praise, alongside the delightful Kolo Merah, made to perfection. The balance of flavors is simply irresistible. As described by Krab Kor, the rich, old-school taste of Miri's kolo mee sets a standard that few can match.

And while the food is undoubtedly the star, it’s the lively atmosphere that makes Joy Cafe truly unique. As shared by V L, visiting the café can even turn into an entertaining spectacle, with the family dynamics adding an extra layer of interest. It’s not just about the dining; it’s about the experience that comes with the—sometimes dramatic—interactions between the three family members behind the counter.

At Joy Cafe, every dish tells a story, inviting patrons to not only indulge in delicious food but also to become part of an ongoing narrative. Whether you're savoring a bowl of kolo mee or diving into the flavors of their exceptional Kampua noodles, Joy Cafe stands out as a must-visit destination for all who find themselves in Miri.

Absolutely resemblance those 80s coffeeshop with air filled pork lard flavoured in the air as u walk in. Experience boss of the noodle stall really cook up a plate of 'memory' on plate. Authentic meat cooked in the most traditionally paired with the dry mee in perfection. My #1 dry mee place in Miri

A good place for Kampua noodles. The drinks are nice too. Run by a Foochow family of 3. The fat son is especially loud and rude, and quite abusive verbally against customers behind their backs. Sometimes you get a free show when the 3 of them have a big verbal fight. Good food and a free show. What more can you ask for?
